I hate to be a kill-joy, but the vast majority of classical art pieces were designed as product placement ads paid for by monarchs and religious institutions. The Sistine Chappell is an advertisement, just like Shakespearean Plays and Swan Lake - all were bought and paid for by the wealthy for a purpose. If we look at the distribution of wealth today, we may see a recipe for the same type of system. And keep in mind that 'high art' was once 'commercial art' - operas were made for mass-public consumption and as tools for spreading nationalistic ideals. Remembering this may be a good and grounded place from which to deepen our conversation regarding our current 'arts crisis'.

As of now, I'm taking interns.

Offering: Access to a beautiful shared office at MuseumsQuartier as well as a 1000m² art space, semi-regular contact with politically and artistically questionable people from all over (artists, hackers, theorists, curators, all sorts of organisations).

Internship entails a variety of administrative, technical as well as creative tasks e.g. sending out newsletters, designing stuff, setting up networks, renovating/helping the factory/art space, organisation of events/exhibitions etc. In other words: you'll do what I do, and I'll find a way to utilise whatever talents that you have! Mwahaha!

Payment: As projects emerge that actually do pay (ha!) and you are part of them, you get payed as much as you help. Occasionally freebees of different kinds.

Location: Mainly Vienna - if there's projects that would require attendance elsewhere travel and accommodation would be provided.

"I've always had an interest in learning more about Einstein. What I found surprised me. Especially, the difference from his first letters about the new America to his socialist stance much later. This book should help people realize that sometimes we make too much of people. While he certainly contributed to science be thankful that he never got his shot at social engineering. This is the kind of guy Ayn Rand would despise. After all what did Einstein actually do? Did he start a company? Did he employee people? I'd argue that the person who invented velcro did more for this world than Einstein. Sure there is a need for scientists and we should appreciate their contributions but we should also be careful not to accept the whole of them without closer scrutiny."

Ich fühlte mich im Internat lange sehr allein, und vielleicht neige ich deswegen heute noch dazu, mir nicht von anderen helfen zu lassen, wenn es mir dreckig geht, sondern mich zu verkriechen. Ich habe auch kaum Freundschaften mit Männern. Diese Art von Männerverbindlichkeit, dass man sich einmal die Woche auf ein Bier trifft oder zusammen segeln geht, das finde ich dermaßen widerwärtig und pervers - das ist für mich etwas völlig Unangenehmes. Ich würde wahnsinnig viel Geld dafür verlangen, mit irgendwelchen Männern auf einem kleinen engen Boot wochenlang herumzufahren, Bier zu trinken und am Ende schlecht zu riechen. Diese ewigen Männergeschichten sind auch so schrecklich langweilig. Mit Frauen kann man viel besser reden.

What we don't talk about as much is how this assumption trivializes male pleasure. We don't talk about the pressure it puts on men to "perform" -- pressure that, ironically, can make said "performance" more problematic. And we don't talk as much about the ridiculous limitations it puts on male sexuality. We don't talk as much about how enjoying full-body sensuality, nipples and ears and toes and hair and the huge range of sexual pleasures available to all human beings, is typically seen as girly. We don't talk as much about how men who like receiving anal sex are widely assumed to be gay... even if the people they like receiving anal sex from are consistently women. And we don't talk as much about how this assumption reduces men's pleasure, their possibilities, their entire sexual beings, to a few inches of erectile tissue between their legs.
